Rules of the leaderboard

  • Per-stick, not per-lot. We compare the price paid per cigar, not the total — otherwise a box of 20 would look like a 20× overpay vs. a single stick of the same cigar.
  • Only well-sampled cigars. Every cigar on this list has at least 5 prior closes in the window, so a "300% over typical" isn't driven by a 2-sale noise average.
  • English and Dutch kept separate. Dutch auctions run hotter on average, so mixing them would be unfair to the English overpayers.
  • No names, no links. Usernames are public on cigarbid.com, but publishing a "look at this person" list felt mean, so we don't. Our data set, our rules.
